The immune system in our body is a complicated web of mechanism designed to stay protected from harmful invaders like bacteria, viruses, allergens and other harmful organisms like antigens. Lacking a proper healthy diet with one or more nutrient missing will prevent our immune system to function properly at time when we need it the most – the winters.
Dietician Sheela Seharawat says that while essential nutrients are important for the protection and maintenance of germ fighting cells in the immune systems, a balanced diet has a strong effect on vascular functions. Our immune system is totally dependent on the blood flow as through the blood stream the infection fighting cells travel throughout the body and where required.
