Go get some water . We’ve all been told that drinking water is important, but have you ever thought about why?
Fluids carry nutrients to your cells, flush bacteria from your bladder, and prevent constipation. Flushing water through your system doesn’t only keep it clean, it also keeps your joints lubricated and working properly.
As we age, we don’t sense thirst as easily as we once did. This is especially a problem for people on medication that might cause fluid loss. Watch for warning signs of dehydration such as weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, or urine that’s dark in color.
To avoid dehydration, drink 30-50 ounces of water per day (about 1 to 1.5 litres). If you’re feeling sick or sweating a lot, drink even more and eat water-rich foods like salad, fresh fruits, and applesauce.
