During this condition patient’s body starts making excess of androgens (male hormones), which causes ovulatory dysfunction. The reason of this disease is not known but modern fast food, junk food and abnormal lifestyle are the main causes of this disease.

Women with polycystic ovaries do not release an egg regularly and have ovaries containing multiple clumps of underdeveloped follicles.

PCOS patients who are not overweight can take 50 to 55% of calories from complex carbohydrates; but patients who are already obese and insulin resistant, should restrict their intake to 40% or less, depending upon their condition.
