What is PCOD?

Polycystic Ovary Disorder (PCOD) is a hormonal disorder in women. PCOD/PCOS causes problem in a woman’s menstrual cycle and as well as on the cardiac functions and appearance. Polycystic ovaries are generally larger in size and denser than the normal ovaries. When sex hormones go out of the balance and body start producing male hormones more is the another reason of occurring PCOD. Today PCOD is one of the most common diseases in women. Not only the women, but even girls are also becoming the victim of the Polycystic Ovary Disorder. The girls who are only 11 are also seen to be suffering from this common disease.



Symptoms of PCOD
Polycystic Ovary Disorder symptoms are related to menstrual disturbance. There will be excess level of androgens. The women or the girls will also face the delay of normal periods. There can be fewer than normal menstrual periods. Or you can be facing absent of periods for two months. Other than these, other symptoms are given below:
Irregular or abnormal periods
Abnormal weight gain or obesity
Acne or skin rashes
Reduced fertility

Till today no one knows the exact reason of causing PCOD. But it has been said that there are number of genetic and environmental factor which causes Polycystic Ovary Disorder. Researchers are still studying Polycystic Ovary Disorder. According to them, excess production of the hormone androgen can also cause PCOD.
Hereditary: If someone in your family, that is, your mother or sister is or was having Polycystic Ovary Disorder then it can also be a reason for you to be the victim of PCOD.
Low – grade inflammation: When a girl or a women is suffering from Polycystic Ovary Disorder and having low – grade inflammation, it stimulates ovaries to produce androgens, leading to PCOD.

Treatment of PCOD
PCOD is unable to cure but it can get managed with a right PCOD diet. May be the doctor will offer you some medicines which will help you to cure PCOD or will suggest fertility treatment. But there are some natural ways which will help you to cure your Polycystic Ovary Disorder.
Eat Right: If you are a obese, then should plan your diet properly. Losing 5 per cent of your weight will help lower insulin resistance.
Exercise: Should opt for exercises such as walking or swimming for at least 30 to 90 minutes in a day.
De-stress: Connect your body with stress reduction techniques, such as yoga and meditation which will help you in lower insulin resistance.

Best Food for PCOD: the Do’s and Don’ts
Add more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Avoid dairy base products because diary based products can increase insulin levels which can aggravate acne and other symptoms.
Include lean meat like fish in your diet and avoid red meat as much as you can. As because according to 2013 study, red meat increase the risk of infertility. On the other hand, having a limit on sugary foods and drinks or totally stop it.
Avoid saturated food. For example - lamb, pork, beef, cheese etc. Saturated foods can raise your cholesterol and can add calories. Certain baked foods also have saturated fat.

Chances of pregnancy in PCOD
Woman who have been affiliated by PCOD (Polycystic Ovary Disorder), are quite likely to have high risk pregnancies hence they need meticulous monitoring and utmost direction. Miscarriage, premature delivery and gestational diabetes are some of the complication which women can face. However, there a lot of efficacious treatments that help women with PCOD become pregnant.
